5 Diets to Avoid

With so many diets out there, it may be difficult to know which will or will not work. The following five simply are some of the worst choices, and should be avoided.

The Detox Diet claims super fast weight loss, and better overall health. The claims are simply not true. The diet basically allows only beans, fruit, vegetables, and nuts to be eaten. Eliminating other food sources causes vitamin deficiency, and can cause you to become quite ill.

The Atkins, or Low Carb diet bases it’s claims on the diets ability to force your body to burn fat instead of energy. The lack of carbs causes your body to enter ketosis, and while the scale will move at first, you are only losing muscle tissue and water.

The Starvation Diet is one of the worst. Your body needs food for every single function that it performs each day. Taking the food away will only serve to shut you down. It is proven that the body actually holds on to fat when in starvation mode, so using this diet is pointless.

The Hollywood Diet is a juice fast. Similar to the starvation method, you are not going anywhere fast by not eating. Initial weight loss is water weight, and will return as soon as you start eating again.

The Cabbage Soup Diet is a short term solution to a long term problem. Your body will not be getting the vitamins and minerals it needs, and you soon will become bored with eating so much cabbage.

The best way to loose weight is actually quite simple: a balanced healthy diet, coupled with exercise.
